| Friday 17th October Django Bates stoRMChaser Big Band special project CBSO Centre 8.00pm £15 (£10) This gig will be recorded for broadcast on Jazz On Three.
As Professor of Rhythmic Music at the Conservatory of Rhythmic Music (RMC) in Copenhagen, the don is taking a sabbatical to tour his regular college orchestra, StoRMChaser (RMC…see what he did there?). They have just completed a remarkable album, Spring is Here (Shall We Dance?) on the Lost Marble label, of original compositions. As you would expect, the music is clever, funny and witty. Plus, the added weight of a 19 piece orchestra adds an exciting dimension to Bates’s work we haven’t really heard since Loose Tubes.
