Our Birmingham Jazz Podcast is a great way to keep up to date with the recordings available through our website. You can have our music downloaded automatically to your computer and listen to it at your leisure. If you're not clear what a podcast is, our simple guide below will explain it all and tell you how you can subscribe to our Podcast.

What is a Podcast?

A Podcast is a way of broadcasting over the internet. Usually Podcasts consist of audio files of Music or Speech and many are similar in format to more traditional Radio broadcasts. The difference with Podcasts is that they can be downloaded and stored on your computer and are therefore available to listen to whenever you choose.

In order to subscribe to a Podcast you need a program to download the content and then play it. See our guide below on how to do this with iTunes. Once you're subscribed, the newest episode of the Podcast will automatically download when you open the program.

We use our Podcast to give you the chance to hear tracks from our Live recordings as they're uploaded to the website. If you subscribe to the Birmingham Jazz Podcast you'll automatically receive the very latest music from us.

 

How do I get hold of the Birmingham Jazz Podcast?

You'll need to download a program to manage our Podcast. We recommend iTunes which can be downloaded from Apple's website here. We've included a step-by-step guide to subscribing to our Podcast via iTunes below. If you want to subscibe using another program then the Feed for our Podcast is:

Subscribing to our Podcast using iTunes

Step 1
Download the latest version of iTunes from Apple's website here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you've already got it installed on your computer skip to Step 3.

 

Step 2
Once iTunes has downloaded, double click on the installer and follow the instructions on screen to install the program.

 

Step 3
Once iTunes has installed open the program open it by double-clicking on the iTunes Icon. Once the program is open, click on the iTunes Store item on the menu on the left-hand-side (see below).

 

Step 4
Type "Birmingham Jazz" into the Search box in the top right corner of iTunes and hit the return key.

 

Step 5
About half way down the page you will see the Birmingham Jazz Podcast in the "Podcast" section. Simply click on the button marked "Subscribe"

 

 

Step 6
The Podcast will begin downloading, and an icon will appear in your Podcast menu Called Birmingham Jazz

Once it's downloaded you'll see a number on top of the icon.

Double click on the Birmingham Jazz icon.

 

Step 7
On the next screen, double click on Birmingham Jazz and you should hear us!

The next Pocast will be downloaded to your iTunes automatically. Keep an eye on "Podcasts" on the left-hand menu. If there's a number there you'll have new Podcasts.
