Martin Speake Quartet

We welcome Martin back to Birmingham with his own quartet. He was a founding member of the innovative sax quartet ‘Itchy Fingers’ in the 80’s touring the world with its unique sound. This quartet is four of the best today, including US drummer Jeff Williams, local man Fred Thomas on Bass and the exciting guitar sound of Mike Outram.

Martin Speake, Mike Outram and Jeff Williams have played for many years as a trio and are now adding bassist Fred Thomas to the group. This quartet brings together all of Martin’s musical influences alongside his favourite musical partners. The four musicians are committed to improvising in the moment and will feature compositions from the cd on Always A First time in addition to music from his recent album Intention on Ubuntu Records featuring Ethan Iverson, Fred Thomas and James Maddren.
